I left Lake Erie State Park within minutes of when I left yesterday.

From the State Park I had a 70 km straight shot to Erie, PA. With a light tailwind, and at worse slow rolling hills I made great time down the coast, averaging 20 kph.

In Erie I stopped for second lunch, and some shopping. While I’d been on a small back road highway heading into Erie, I left Erie on a major highway with not a lot of shoulder. While normally I stick to the shoulder, I moved further out to force drivers to switch lanes, providing a bit more room as they passed.

Riding along the shore of Lake Erie feels much like being at Epcot. I’m in Edinboro now, and cycled today through Barcelona, Dunkirk, and Angola. I passed a turnoff for Hamburg yesterday.

I arrived in Edinboro by 3:30 pm at 101 km. Today is the first day I’ve wished I’d selected a farther destination. My legs aren’t tired and while the hills weren’t tall, they didn’t slow me down. Then again less time in the sun probably works out for the best. I’m fighting sunburn. I’m hopeful that the Allegheny Passage in a few days will provide shade.
