I was in Salzburg until today. Sadly, it rained all but one day, so I didn’t explore all that much. One place that I went was a toy museum.

They handed me a marble to use in some of the play areas. Kept me busy.

Failed attempt at building a castle:

They also had a whole bunch of miniatures set up to represent lots of little businesses.

And this one of the meat market! Eek!
I think there was something stronger than tea in her cup!

I wandered the town a lot. It’s very touristy, but also really cute. There is a lot of Sound of Music and Mozart references. And so many shops selling old style Austrian/German attire! (No space to pack a dirndl in the pannier, so had to pass. haha)
Blending the old and the new.

Some random lovely scenes from Salzburg…

And rain…

Cuckoo clock shop

And SO MANY egg ornaments!!!

These are all real eggs. (And yes, there is a sign indicating that you’re not supposed to take photos. Oops, kinda.)

Yesterday I went to tourist information and said I wanted to go to a farm. I had been trying to find something on AirBnB and Booking.com but couldn’t find much. The nice tourist info ladies gave me a website for Austrian farms and voila, found one! So, I hopped on a train this morning and headed to Saalfelden.

The train followed the Salzach River from Salzburg (see blue line on the map), south, then west, then the train cut north. It is stunningly beautiful here!
Arrived at Saalfelden and rode to the farm. It was mostly flat until the last part up to the farm. Took me a bit to get up the hill! Had to stop now and then.

(The farm is up there.)

And I got animals! I wanted animals! This is Sisi (the cat not the rug).

Maria (who runs the place) told me the names of the animals. I forgot most of them, but the bunnies are Max and Moritz.

And more farm animals!

And views from the farm.

Today being Sunday, stores and banks are closed. Tomorrow I’ll go to town and get food and cash to pay Maria.
Rick’s timing was a bit off. That is, he went a lot further than he expected! Today he had a lot of downhill. He will be in Salzburg tomorrow I think, while here I am, not in Salzburg. I think he’ll stay there until I get there, then we will tour the castle together. (I held off on the castle so we could go together.)

Today is Sunday. I head back to Salzburg on Wednesday.
