A few photos from last night at Deggendorf’s central square before and after dinner.

Then off we went.

We took a short cut at one point and then suddenly in front of us were castle ruins! So, we went up the hill to see it!

The irony of looking through the archways of the ruins and seeing lots of solar panels.

One section of the bike path had scale models of planets. (Reminds me of when we did a similar thing with the kids.)

Oh, today, biking on cobblestones! Bumpity bump bump!

A swan on the Danube came up to get a closer look at us.

And flowers along the sides of the path.

A weird bike staircase to walk your bike to a tunnel below a road.

And a picture of me that Rick took.

So, we arrived in Passau, having ridden more than 60 km (more than 36 miles). Staying in a hotel again tonight. Passau is on the German-Austrian border, so tomorrow we’ll cross into Austria! I’ve wanted to visit Austria for decades!

Oh, and this morning Rick demonstrated his bicycle mechanic chops! We started out and my front gears wouldn’t shift. We stopped and he scraped out some grit, turned a few screws, tugged on some cables, and it wasn’t getting better, so he grabbed the front derailleur (the shifting part down low on the bike) and started shaking it really hard, and out dropped a pea-sized pebble! My shifting has never been better since he did that!
